Bumper Harvest – August Year 3

August 2010….

So far we have a nice glorious summer…. by seeing all the vegetables at the plot … healthy and lots lots produces…..

The project for this month is laying a decent patio at the front of the shed…. no more slipping or treading when the ground is wet…. thanks my 2 JCB workers….

Home Made…

Keep picking of the seams everlasting Raspberry…. the plants are just keep producing berries, guessed that in April and May time has put in loads of manure and fertilizer plus the wild flower patch near by… all helps for the outcome…. I have made load of Raspberry jams and Raspberry coulis, which definitely will last us for the next season… To make use of all these jams and coulis …the next production line is making sponge cakes and biscuits…. all fun around….

Chutney, jam and jelly are the wonderful ways to keep and lasting the produces…. spiced them up and become real treat for munching the lunch, dinner and tea….. even gifts too…… I have made lots this year and even have to order some jars from Lakeland… very satisfactory customer….

Harvest

Feeling wonderful to pick all these produces from ground… all come from just a tiny seed… make you wonder of nature can give….. plus the hard labour of work did paid off well….. Alleluia…

JCB in action

This part of the path has been slopping to one side for sometime, in fact long before we took over the plot, we have been walking on this part of the path in an unbalance way that something has to be done to make it right….. so here comes my loved JCB…. first task of this year…. to balance the walking path….

There we are having Parsnips for tea, they are from Fred’s plot, he kindly share some of his last year grown and this year’s very early harvest……

Week 37 – Year 2

19th October – 25th October 2009

My niece and nephew will come to stay for a few days during their half term this and the coming week.  Delighted to have a full house for awhile and get myself busy in the kitchen.

We have couple dry spell this weeks and decided to planted out Garlic in the plot…

My stack of Spaghetti Squashes planting system is working, I have 9 big squashes out of 2 plants, when the time I decided to pull the stack down and here come 2 more hidden inside….

It is around this time of the year, after most veggie have been harvested, the ground need to be turn over dig in some nutrition for the next crop…. here come my favourite helper my favourite humanoid JCB in action…

Week 32 – Year 2

Into the mid of September, we are having good sunny weather this year, noticed that plot 1’s tomato plants has picking up the ripening colour….

The plants needs to turn the colour is in the right time, here is my Chilli plants at home are doing fine to turn to reddish too….

It is around this time of the year to empty the compost bin as it has been working a year round to produce rich compost at the bottom base….. here come the JCB giving a hand to empty the compost manure to the plot’s beds….

Winter Cabbages

I have put all my young toddlers winter cabbages outside for days and nights now to let them climatise before planting them into the plot bed…..

Week 15 – Year 2

A busy week at the allotment and lots of happening……

My JCB + Handy Man

After a year having the allotment we decided to repair some of the rows edges at my plot, and here comes my humanoid JCB plus handy man…. measure and saw to it….

Highlights of the week

Board beans

The early sown over the winter ones are fruiting nicely and looking forward to have some to taste next week.  The second crops are catching up and they are taller and start having baby beans… By the way I have pinched most of the tops of the board beans plants in my stir fry dinner, they are the most delicacy, the best of all green veggie…..

Jerusalem Artichoke

I have left some Jerusalem Artichoke roots from last year’s harvest in the ground, and I have dug in lots of goodies in the area in late winter, and here they are…. the back to live of “gold dust”.

Peas & Mangetouts

I saw that there are flower buds and flowers in my Early peas and Mangetouts plants and they are taller than my supported cages, that means I shall have the peas feast soon….. some said that when the peas are ready to pick, is the time to harvest the first early of potatoes too…

Summer Cabbage

After the success of the “Spring Hero”, I decided to go for the summer variety “Winnigstat” at this time of the year and hope for some good eating later on…..

Salad leaves & Lettuce

Among all the cabbage, beans, peas and potatoes, here comes the salad leaves of Pak Choi, Lettuce, Mizuna leaves… they are yummy…

Spring Onion

After the taste of the home grown spring onion, this is a must to repeat growing, so I get another pack of spring onion seeds and sow them in between rows of veggie…

Week 6 – Year 2

16th March – 22nd March 2009

What a sunny warm spring feel week we had, sunny with lots of blue sky, not bad to start with the second half of March.  Lot of activities at the plot and the cultivator’s tone up the first season’s concerto…….

Plot 7’s plotter has moved in 2 chickens with cages constructed at the far end of the plot, all of us just hope this is a wise move and if not the fox will have a supreme good feast…. photos to follow…..

Seeds Galore

Lots of seeds has germinated and they looks fine but still I have to wait for the right moment to plant them in the plot…. timing is vital as said.

Project

At last I have erect 2 more posts at the berries corner, so my blackberries, raspberries plants will have sturdy support and hope that I shall have some good berries later in the year…. plus I have put about 10 strawberry plants in between…. really hope to make some strawberry ice cream in the summer….

Sweet Peas

The sweet peas that I have sown in those recycled toilet rolls last year November time has stood up the severe winter well and been at the cold frame for awhile, now is the time to grow at my plot, here they are……

JCB

My JCB has been busy helping in the plot, since we have only half plot, the machine cultivator is not necessary and mainly on the manual power.  So my manual power is my personal humanoid JCB……..

Soil / Ground
