Week 25 – Year 2

27th July – 2nd August 2009

Constant picking at this time of year and admiring and pick up tips from others….

Here is one example of someone’s allotment….

Pat & Barry (plot 9)

A mini garden with mini pond created at their front row… attract wild lives like frogs and all kinds of flying insects helpers for pollinating veggie plants…. they dry the onions above ground under plastic cover with air through both ends and bottom… grow left over beans from pots….

Parsnips, Potatoes and Turnips

Decided to dig out some parsnips to check how it looks like and found myself very satisfy by the look of them….some said it best to leave till the first frost.  Dug out some more potatoes too.

I love Turnips especially use them to make savoury Turnips cake… my first time growing of the Red Globe type is successful and definitely will  grow more next year… my plotter friends Bill and Philp who have their special type of Turnips at the plot and kindly share some with me…. all tasted wonderful….sweet and yummy….

Week 24 – Year 2 (Rain Rain Rain…)

20th July 26th July 2009

It rains for days, absolutely soaking wet everywhere…. my front and back yards, my allotment plots…. only one thing that is happy for the rain is the Weeds, they are thriving mad… they never drown, never rot, never have blights…..

Popped down to the allotment while there has a gap of dry spell and look what I’ve found…

What a sight to see a ton of manure delivered at the site and found there are viewers sitting comfortably viewing the mount….. I prefer view them through the snap instead….

Week 23 – Year 2

12th July – 19th July 2009

Back from the holiday break and in fact I need another holiday to recover the holiday just had…. the washing and all…..

We moaned of the flaming heat and now we moaned for where the heat gone…. too many rain showers now… don’t know when to due with the mountain of weeds at the allotment… and on the other hands all crops properly all juice up and ripe to pick….

Picking is a cheerful motion and definitely plenty to pick… I have bumper good crops of potatoes this year, still plenty left in the ground to enlarge the sizes….. Besides my stocks there are others who are generous to share their pickings…. Thanks you Bill’s red currents and Barry’s cabbages…
