Extraordinary harvest–year 4
2nd of July 2011
Giant or mutant potato
I should put it extraordinary… as this is my very first found…. the variety is Arron Pilot, first early…. it weights 1360g, 3 pounds on its own…. just dug out from bed 7 by the carrot bin….
the follow are from the same mother potato, my second, third and fourth largest so far…
These four potatoes easy fit in one basket….
The king size one is larger than the hand trawl ……

Wow! I grow mine in tubs, so I use smaller varieiies, none of which is ready to harvest yet. These photos are making me very hurrgy, though. And impatient!

It is amazing! The biggest one is enough for the whole family!
Thanks all the wow and amazing comments…. someone mention about feeding the famine in Africa too, but I just wonder whether potato is their major diet?… if so they can have it, we’ll send all the potato products to them… while they have food, they can work out how to avoid and protect themselves from the droughts such as built more reserviors, dug some underground water wells, plant some droughts resistant products etc…. By looking at my giant potato I do think of those very unfortunate…. it took me years of studying from books, media and picking up tips and bits….. four years actual on ground practise (this is my 4th year having the allotment)…. I am very please with this result… thanks all…
Amazing, Virginia!
